癫痫性眼球震颤，以眼球震颤为癫痫发作的主要或唯一表现。中医传统上把引起婴儿眼球震颤原因癫痫称作痫证或痫病，癫痫是后来的叫法。作为局灶性癫痫发作的一种表现，癫痫性眼球震颤是罕见的。姿势性癫痫，指反复发作并以一定的姿势造型为主要表现的癫痫发作形式，常因额叶辅助运动区受累所致。

患者以前可无癫痫史，癫痫性眼球震颤可以毫无诱因而突然发作，也可以在某些特定因素，如光刺激、深呼吸、压迫眼球等情况下发生，眼球震颤多为水平性，快相向癫痫灶对侧，可伴有背离或朝向癫痫灶的水平性凝视。发作时患者可能有视物不清感，持续时间短暂。脑电图检查放电部位多在颞顶枕部。

典型表现为头眼向一侧偏斜伴一个或多个肢体姿势性强直，常见面向侧的上肢上举，肘部半屈，似击剑状，同时意识多保留，部分有尖叫或不能说话。整个发作过程持续时间短。这种姿势性发作一般不伴有阵挛性动作，但可向其他形式的发作转化。

忧郁、悲观会导致癫痫患者病情加重。忧郁是癫痫的一种诱发因素，因此癫痫使得忧郁的特征更加明显。心理负担加重，闷闷不乐，心情不畅，久而久之，会形成较严重的精神抑郁症，给患者造成生活痛苦，心理负担，影响治疗效果。观心理极易导致患者消极对待癫痫治疗，影响癫痫的治疗效果，所以癫痫患者要尽量避免忧郁、悲观情绪。
