小孩癫痫常见的是复杂性失神发作，又称失神发作自动症。在对一大组失神发作的分析中，简单性羊癫疯小发作并不常见。羊癫疯小发作伴轻微阵挛性成分见于半数左右的失神发作，主要表现为失神发作时伴有面部或上肢轻微的肌阵挛性抽动。如肌阵挛为突出的症状，则应考虑羊癫疯小发作。本症发作时间较短，无感觉性及精神性先兆。
