4、不要塞任何东西到口中，更不要硬把咬紧的牙齿撬开，但若病童的嘴能张开或有感觉将要发作了，亦可将压舌板、折叠的腰带、手套或其他坚固不易损坏的东西置入口内。

5、预防意外伤害，移开周围尖锐、硬、烫之物，以免受伤。可以枕头、棉被等软物围护在病童四周。

6、仔细观察与记录发作的型态、持续时间，可做为医生的参考。

7、不需作人口呼吸，尤其是口对口人工呼吸，因易将呕吐物挤入肺部，造成窒息。

8、不需叫救护车，除非发作持续超过5分钟以上仍不止时才需即刻送医
