而继发性癫痫的临床发作，有各种类型，如大发作、小发作、精神运动性发作、局限性发作等，多数患者疗效不好的原因，是没有针对原发病即病因进行治疗，有的虽然针对病因采取了一定措施，但没有起到应有的作用，所以癫痫一直无法得到有效控制和治疗。在对原发病的治疗上一定要得法，分清主次，制定系统的治疗方案。

专家强调，针对病因治疗与控制癫痫发作，最好要同时进行，因为二者是相辅相成的，病因的逐步消减，有利于控制癫痫，癫痫得到有效控制，可避免脑细胞的进一步损伤，形成良性循环，有利于癫痫病的治疗。
