尿了裤子的大发作型;常见于儿童又不易发觉的小发作型;以及局灶性癫痈、精神运动性癫痈、特殊类型癫痛等年龄不同，发作类型不同，停药后的反应也不一样。据大量临床观察证明，像失神小发作类型的癫痛，到青春期后停药，可能不再复发，即使是大发作，在小儿停药后再犯的情况也很少。而成人则不然，

有的大发作虽经长期用药得到控制，停药后再犯的机会仍较多。当兼有二种以上发作类型者比单一类型发作者更易发作;合并智能障碍和神经症状者停药后更易复发。角药后抽风很快得到控制者，停药后不易再犯。需要注意的是青春发育期最好不要停药。有人认为脑电图正常了或有了改善，发作波消失了就可停药，这是错误的。脑电图对诊断癫痛固然重要，但它不能做为终止用药的判断指标，只能做参考。停药时应逐渐减量，不断观察脑电图变化，经数年后才可终止用药。如脑电图仍有异常，千万不可停药。
