1、起病年龄早也是小儿失神性癫痫的症状表现，小儿失神性癫痫的起病年龄早，在4-8岁，高峰年龄为5岁左右，少数起病年龄可早至2岁，但晚期起病的失神一般不属于小儿失神性癫痫的范畴，是癫痫的症状。

2、失神伴植物神经症状，失神发作时常可观察到植物神经的症状，如瞳孔扩大，面色苍白或潮红，心动过速，呼吸改变等，少数可有尿失禁。

3、失神伴轻微阵挛性成分，见于半数左右的失神发作，主要表现为失神发作时伴有面部或上肢轻微的肌阵挛性抽动。如肌阵挛为突出的症状，则应考虑为肌阵挛性失神。

4、小儿失神性癫痫患儿智力发育正常，神经系统无异常体征，这也是小儿失神性癫痫的症状表现。发作频繁者，可有思维过程减慢，影响学业。

5、小儿癫痫小发作症状，有短暂的意识丧失，突然开始，突然结束，发作时正在进行的活动中断，双目凝视，眼球短暂上翻，如患者在行走时突然呆立不动，如在说话时突然停止或减慢速度，如正在进食时食物就停放在嘴边，整个过程持续几秒钟之后突然消失。发作时常可同时伴有轻微的阵挛，或失张力，或强直，或自动症，也可单纯地表现为意识障碍。

6、失神半失张力成分，约占失神发作的百分之二十左右，发作时维持姿势的肌肉张力减低，通常表现为头部缓慢下垂，但很少因肌张力完全消失而致跌倒。失神伴跌倒发作一般见于不典型失神。
